Vier jaar geleden debuteerde de Ierse band Funeral Suits zeer verdienstelijk met de plaat Lily Of The Valley. Om je geheugen op te frissen: met All Those Friendly People stond daar een aardig hitje op.
Ergens dit jaar verschijnt een opvolger. Een naam weten we nog niet, een release datum ook niet. Bij onze collega’s van Nialler 9 vinden we wel enige duiding, gegeven door de band zelf:
We wrote the new record in an apartment over a busy street, with windows open to sounds of life and the ocean in Brighton. We wrote overlooking a church on a quiet street in Shoreditch, and in cold, noisy industrial warehouses in Hackney and Tottenham. We wrote by the wild Atlantic on the West Coast of Ireland, and in Zen forests in Sweden, on doorsteps talking to strangers, to the rhythm and sights of the world passing by.
Nou, daar kunnen we wat mee.
Gelukkig is er al een eerste single: Tree of Life. Gisteren ging die in premiere bij DIY Mag met daarbij de volgende mooie woorden: “The video for ‘Tree Of Life’ dances around a modern day re-imagining of the seven deadly sins. Taking that Biblical framework and applying it to an all-too-relatable context, it’s a clip that’s every bit as unsettling as Funeral Suits’ warped, wide-eyed and glimmering sound.” Niks meer aan doen.
