Eind februari verscheen met Blue Ceilings de langverwachte tweede plaat van de Canadese band The Franklin Electric. Op Gobsmag vandaag de Nederlandse première van nieuwe videoclip ‘Someone Just Like You’.
The Franklin Electric is gevormd rondom singer/songwriter Jon Matte. In 2012 won hij een compositiewedstrijd in Nashville, met een deelnemersveld van 8.000 muzikanten van over de hele wereld. ‘Old Piano’ heette het liedje waarmee hij sier maakte en dat uiteindelijk ook drie jaar later verscheen op het mooie debuutalbum This Is How I Let You Down. De titeltrack werd vervolgens hun bekendste nummer tot nu toe.
Nieuwe plaat Blue Ceilings moet de volgende stap zijn: “The Franklin Electric steps up to the next level with Blue Ceilings: music that casts a spell, on a human scale,” staat in het meegestuurde persbericht. “A mature, fully-formed sound that embraces the riddles of life and love.” Kortom: liedjes over het Leven & de Liefde.
Nieuwe single ‘Someone Just Like You’ is een van de prijsnummers van het album. In de videoclip danst Jon Matte zijn zorgen (voor even) weg:
After a very strange hot hazy emotional 24 hours with barely any sleep, I found myself in a Melbourne alley with a friend who happened to have his camera on him. My mind was racing, I was honestly completely broken hearted from a relationship that had just ended and he wanted to film something. With no concept in sight I just decided to dance, trying to free my body from the feelings and turbulent thoughts. Im not a dancer at all but I found myself pulling off my own interpretations of old break-dance steps and freestyle like a maniac, It felt great and he captured the moment on cam.
