Thomas Savage maakt muziek onder de naam Vilde. Liedje Holograms gaf ons meteen een erg goed gevoel en bracht herinneren boven aan The Antlers (check ook zeker hun meest recente plaat) en ook wel aan de sound van Nederlands trots St. Solaire. Veel plezier!

Zelf omschrijft Tiblinksi zijn taak als:
Tiblinski is dedicated to the bittersweet things in life. The extreme parallels of existence. the moments you cry so hard you can’t breathe. The moments you laugh so hard you can’t breathe. The moments you wonder if you just have difficulty breathing. Taking those strange dichotomies and presenting them in picturesque snapshots is the Tiblinksi mission.
Bijvoorbeeld op liedje One Last Job. Een beetje Sufjan Stevens en verderop in de track wat Bear’s Den. Om maar iets te noemen. Wij vinden het in ieder geval een erg fijn liedje om op deze zonnige Koningsdag met je te delen.
Want een paar seconden into liedje Ain’t No Good leert ons dat Eric B Turner een fantastische, soulvolle stem heeft. En die gaat niet onopgemerkt voorbij in muziekminnend Amerika. Zo deelde Eric het podium al met Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Anthony Hamilton en India Arie. En met Barack Obama. Correct. Barrack.
A. Vos, dat klinkt Nederlands. Dat is het niet, het is namelijk de naam waarop Amerikaan Austin Vos muziek maakt. Afkomstig uit Atlanta. Maar verwacht geen southern-rock of tempo. A. Vos maakt prachtige, breekbare Jeff Buckliaanse singer-songwriter liedjes. Waaronder bijvoorbeeld Lemon Moon.
Twee jaar geleden schreven we enthousiast over duo Westrin & Mowry, op basis van liedje I’m Awake For Sure. En enthousiast dat zijn we nog steeds, ook n.a.v. liedje Surface to Air. Nog steeds dat breekbare wat ook een band als Antony & the Johnsons heeft. Je vindt het liedje op EP Treasures, een absolute aanrader!

“Darkness In Your Eyes is about recognising desperation in someone and trusting your instincts when you know someone isn’t being themselves, or something isn’t right and they’re trying to hide it. The lyrics touch on themes of loneliness and it’s about people craving intimacy and affection, often in the wrong places and from the wrong people” .
Joey Haynes kennen je waarschijnlijk / misschien als een van de founding members van het awesome Bear’s Den. Onder de naam John Revelle heeft Joe nu een solo debuut single uitgebracht die luistert naar de titel This Bird Has Flown. Het klinkt ietsjes anders, iets rustiger dan Bear’s Den, maar de vibe is wel voelbaar. Evenals die van Leif Vollebekk of zelfs Neil Young (Harvest-style). En het goede nieuws: een EP’tje is onderweg!
The original plan was to release the songs about a year ago, but yeah, Covid happened, and everything was put on hold. After months of holding out in the hopes that the pandemic subside sufficiently to make it possible to play gigs and festivals to support the release, I finally decided to pull the plug. I still plan to tour and play the songs live once the world opens up again. There’s a real DIY ethos permeating the making of this EP, and it’s completely self-funded and independently released, and I’m very happy with the result and look forward to sharing it with everyone.
We laten je graag kennismaken met Robert Finley. Een oorlogsveteraan en houtbewerker. En al tientallen jaren zonder zicht. Het deed ‘m besluiten zijn muzikale dromen na te jagen. En die carrière zit stevig in de lift sinds Dan Auerbach (Black Keys) Robert ontdekte en helemaal gek werd van enthousiasme. Zo gek zelfs dat hij Robert’s vorige album Goin’ Platinum opnam en produceerde, en hetzelfde deed met opvolger Sharecroppers Son (verschijnt eind mei). En als Dan ergens zijn stempel op zet, dan weet je dat het goed is. En bluesy. En swampy. En funky. En niets is minder waar met liedje Country Boy.
