Het rauwe geluid van Warbly Jets (7.7)

Warbly Jets releasden met Warbly Jets dit jaar hun debuutplaat. Vol met lekker rammelende west-coast gitaarliedjes. Een meer dan prima voorbeeld daarvan is Raw Evolution. Van Catfish & the Bottleman en BRMC tot een Matthew E. White (met wat meer pit). Bij elke luisterbeurt horen we wel weer iets nieuws. En hoewel het geluid dus zeker niet uniek is, blijven we het maar draaien. Dat kan alleen maar een goed teken zijn, niet?

Overigens zijn ze net terug van een Europe-tour. Dat hebben we dus even gemist, better luck next time.

Frontman Samuel Shea zegt over het liedje: “It’s about the struggle of surviving in America.  I remember writing the opening lyrics sitting by the 5th floor window in the recording studio and hearing a homeless man wailing on the street below me.  There is an obvious movement happening youth culture right now, what other generations in the past would’ve called a revolution I recognize now as more of the raw evolution of where we have arrived as the tenants of planet earth.”
