In London woont Alex Lindner. En Alex is nogal into muziek. Zo schrijft hij liedjes en produceert hij voor anderen, maar maakt hij sinds kort ook eigen muziek onder de naam Flood for the Famine. Vanuit die hoedanigheid stuurde hij ons het liedje Up In Smoke. En man, dat is een goed liedje zeg! Doet ons enorm denken aan Nick Cave, Leonard Cohen en zelfs hier en daar wat Tom Waits.
Bijzonder om te melden is dat hij alle instrumenten zelf opnam. Daarbij gaat hij niet over een nacht ijs. “The song usually comes quickly to me, but then you have to find a world for it to live in. I’ll spend months tracking guitars, synths, drums, on studio time I’ve begged, borrowed or stolen. Whatever it is that helps tell the story of the song – I want my music to contain something you can chew on.”
We wachten dus met smart op mid april, dan verschijnt debuut EP Waiting to Happen.
